Norway's King's Guard has a knighted penguin. Sir Nils Olav, a king penguin who lives at Edinburgh Zoo, holds the rank of Major General in the Norwegian military, was knighted in 2008 with the approval of the King, and is formally inspected by Norwegian soldiers on parade.
