A geography game you play on the map
Globe Rivals is a free geography game. A country name appears, you tap where it is on the world map. It takes two minutes a day, it is genuinely fun, and you will learn the globe faster than any list will teach you.

Why it works
- No multiple choice. The map is the answer sheet, so you cannot guess your way through.
- One round a day. Ten prompts in 100 seconds — most days modern countries, some days a historical map from 1914, 1945 or 1960, some days mountains, deserts, rivers and oceans.
- Two tries. 3 points first go, 2 on the second, then the answer is shown. You learn from the ones you miss.
- One shot a day. Everyone gets the same countries, so scores are worth comparing.
- Free, no signup. It opens in a browser and is built for a phone.
How it compares
The good geography games mostly test names. Globe Rivals tests position — the thing an atlas is actually for.
- Globe Rivals — place countries on a map against the clock, one daily round that also visits three historical eras.
- Sporcle and JetPunk — typing and naming quizzes, huge back catalogues, no map placement.
- Seterra — the closest thing to this, built for classroom drilling rather than a daily round.
- GeoGuessr — street-view deduction, a different skill and a paid one.
