Sudan has more pyramids than Egypt, and most people have never heard of them. Over 200 steep sided pyramids built by the Kushite kingdom stand at Meroë and nearby sites, roughly twice as many as in Egypt. They are smaller, sharper, and usually almost empty of visitors.
