Crazy but True
The loneliest tree on Earth stood in Niger, and someone managed to hit it with a truck. The Tree of Ténéré was the only tree for roughly 400 kilometers in any direction, used as a landmark by caravans crossing the Sahara, until a driver ran into it in 1973. A metal sculpture now marks the spot.
